OTTAWA, December 17, 2001 — The Competition Bureau released today its Draft Enforcement Guidelines: The Abuse of Dominance Provisions (Sections 78 and 79 of the Competition Act) as Applied to the Retail Grocery Industry for public comment and consultation.
These draft guidelines are being issued to provide a better understanding of the Bureau's approach to enforcing the abuse of dominance provisions as they relate to the Canadian grocery industry. Comments from interested parties and stakeholders are requested by March 15, 2002. These can be submitted by e-mail, fax or regular mail. All submissions will be made available to the public and will be posted on our Web site, except where confidentiality is specifically requested.
