In June 2004, the Competition Bureau received a complaint regarding the labelling of pre-packaged kitchen appliances. It was found that the product lacked complete disclosure of name and address of the responsible party as is required under the Consumer Packaging and Labelling Act.
Under Section 10 of the Consumer Packaging and Labeling Act, it is a requirement for any pre-packaged product to include a declaration of the dealer's name and principal place of business.
Bureau officials discussed the requirements of the Consumer Packaging and Labeling Act with the company, and as a result of the discussions, the company provided verbal commitments that:
