In September 2004, the Competition Bureau received a complaint from a consumer who had observed that imported textile products were offered for sale in Canada without the name and postal address of the dealer.
According to paragraph 11(b) of the Textile Labelling and Advertising Regulations, the name and postal address of the dealer must be shown on a permanent label attached to each article of clothing.
Representatives of the Bureau discussed the requirements of the Act with respect to labelling with the company’s officials. Following the discussions, the company agreed in writing to:
